So I decided to look up online as to what in the world did my medal mean...
And when I looked at it, I realised that it really has indeed touched my life the way its supposed to...(Info from here: http://www.medjugorje-online.com/miraculousmedal.php)

Miraculous Medal

The Blessed Mother appeared to St. Catherine Laboure in Paris and asked her to have this medal struck and distributed.

For the past century, the Miraculous Medal has been the most popular medal of all time.

The apparition happened in 1830. When the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Catherine Laboure, she granted her a vision of the Miraculous Medal, front and back, and she said, "All who wear them will receive great graces."

The back of the Miraculous Medal features an "M" joined with a cross, as well as two hearts which are said to signify the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary.

These powerful words frame the front of the pendant: O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

Miraculous Medal Jewelry

Why should you and your loved ones wear Miraculous Medals?

The Virgin Mary promises protection from evil for those who wear one. It is also a powerful sign of devotion.

Just Me

Wandering aimlessly
Through time and space
No map, no compass
No one for company
Just me

Last night, I decided to try my luck and see whether I can have my wedding lunch at Merchant Court since it would be more convenient for our guests after the church wedding and with Central now above Clarke Quay MRT, at least they got somewhere to hang around before the lunch itself if they are early. When sending the email, I didn't know whether I should request for my ex co-ordinator or not. But figured since I was just getting a quotation, there was no need.

This morning, I got a reply and I saw a very familiar name in the "cc" section. Now I don't know if he remembered my name or whether it was a coincidence but his assistant was the one that responsed to my email and now I got his direct line and direct work email. (At the previous place, it was sent to the general email and they would print out my email and put it in his "IN" tray)

I was so tickled pink that I told my mom.
Price wise for next year's wedding lunch packages are pretty good and similar to what we're prepared to pay for anyway (much to my surprise) but more imptly, WE MEET THE MIN TABLE REQUIREMENT!!!

It's a SIGN I tell you!!
I was hoping that we can have it there, then that way, it's easier to find a place to have our post wedding party.

*fingers crossed

I was joking with my mom, I get to bully my co-ordinator again!!
Muahahaha..

Actually, I am more concerned about making sure things run smoothly, hence my desire to use back my old co-ordinator. So now that I've found him, I had to send him an email to disturb him....*grins Hopefully now, he will have less stress....or at least until he finds out who my mom knows there *grins

But I'm happy!!!

Sunday Christians or Everyday Nightmares?

Disclaimer: The author, like the rest of the readers, is entitled to her own opinions and will not tolerate blasting of opinions and the author will delete comments at her own discretion.

Every Sunday when I go for mass with my hubby, I make it a point to get there early for the simple fact that the timing is quite popular and the church is catering to a very large parish...

Now as anyone can tell you, where you have LOADS of people, and a "not so large" doorway, add in the kiasu (or scared to lose) society we live in, and you get a human jam...from getting the holy water before leaving, to just leaving the chapel...the worse thing? Getting PUSHED and SHOVED along the way while trying to be nice to others who are also trying to pass...

Even getting on the bus was a hassle...the worse is when the elderly push and shove u from behind. Once I got so pissed off, I turned around and told the lady, "DO U MIND?!" Needless to say, I got stared at by the people around me, whether it was looks of sheer shock, or "how dare u?", I quite frankly didn't care..To me, just coz you're old, doesn't meant the world owes you a living.

While on the bus going to the MRT station, I told him that I'm starting to wonder why do people go to church? I mean, even before they leave church, they've already seemed to have forgotten everything. I mean, I see parishoners leave even before the priest does! I mean, HALLOooo.....rude much?! *sigh

He just looked at me, shrugged his shoulders coz he knows that he didn't have the ans either. All he did was say that as long as we were going for the right reasons, that was the impt things and we kinda left it at that.

Then while waiting to get on the feeder bus to go to IMM from Jurong East, there was this mom who ENCOURAGED her kids to CUT the queue when everyone was queuing nicely....I loudly saracastically said something and another mom behind me did the same thing, after I had said that and I knew she heard! I was really losing my temper coz the bus was crowded enough as it was, and you are just encourging your kids to be RUDE! My hubby also had enough and told the lady and her kids,"Can you please queue up?!" and mind you, his tone when he's pissed off is wwwaayyy harsher than mine. Mine is just plain bitchy. She actually stared at my hubby and told her kids to ignore him.

EXCUSE ME?!?! U were cutting queue, TEACHING your kids to do the same, someone tells you to queue up and you tell your kids to ignore him?! Then again, I don't blame her...What parent wants to be upstaged by a stranger esp when the latter is obviously right?

While on the bus, which was already packed like crazy, I was commenting to my hubby that I was losing my sacrastic touch, he calmly looked at me and said, what makes you think they understand? Very bitchy and mean, I know but HALLO?!?! Let's be honest, if you were in my position, what would u do? Then when the bus was reaching the destination, this FAT (I am not even going to bother to mince or "beautify" my words) lady pushed and shoved her way to make room for her kids to get off...and mind you, there were like at least another 6-7 people she would have to get through. N naturally she poked and shoved me while trying to do that. N naturally I got more irritated...

Luckily the bus stopped soon and we alighted unscathed.

I commented to my hubby that if I am so impatient and all, why am I studying to become a counsellor? He said that from what he's observed so far, I am impatient regarding things related to me directly. Things that don't affect me directly, I am fine...

Which I got to admit, has some truth to it.
Just like any Singaporean, much as I hate to admit it, I hate to wait.
I walk fast, I (dunno if I still do) talk fast, I don't eat as fast as I used to but then again, I can be so caught up in doing something, I can don't eat the whole day.

Sunday Christians...this term is something that I've been exposed to for a long time ever since I went to a mission school...warnings about not falling into that trap...etc. Unfortunately, I think now it's progressed to "Sunday Mass-ers" considering those who don't even have the courtesy to stay until at least the priest has left the chapel. And of course, let's not forget those who leave right after communion...

But everyday we face people like that...on our way to work, during lunch, during office hours, after office hours, sometimes even at home!
It's amazing how we all haven't gone mad yet...
Personally, I think the age has come where it's no longer an issue about "Sunday Christians" but more about "Everyday Nightmares"
After all, not everyone goes to church and it's not fair to let the rest of the world off now is it?

Deadly concoction

Fatigue + Stress + Hormone pills (because period in hibernation and has decided that it's still winter) = one seriously messed up person

Needless to say, I was scared out of my mind and tried to fall back to sleep but unfortunately, I couldn't. I had to take leave the next day coz I was just so exhausted mentally...Didn't wanna coz I have a colleague in office whose mom is having some health problems and is taking a toll on her. But I really couldn't open my eyes when the alarm went off and only managed to drag myself out of bed over an hour after I normally wake up.

But having rested more and taking it easy at home, studying for my final theory test, I do feel better...

Still thinking about whether to cancel my 2 days leave in Aug or just take 1 day and treat myself to a spa session and a mani/pedi session, haircut maybe? then go home n rest...Yeah think that sounds pretty good....

A Malay colleague of mine told me that they believe that every house has a guardian spirit (or something like that) to kina like guard the house and make sure that everyone in it is safe.
Sometimes they may appear in the form of a family member...they are not meant to be scary or anything...
So maybe that's what happened to me...

Coz to be honest, I only got scared after "it" vanished...before that I was more confused and curious as to what's happening.
Maybe slow reaction =P

Hubby told me to say a short prayer before I sleep and last night I did and it helped.
I slept better but still mentally exhausted.

Really dunno what to do

Ladies and Gentleman, we have a date!

As most of you know by now, my hubby and I had to postphone our church/customary wedding because of his NS commitments but now we've finally gotten a date!

The new wedding date is set for DECEMBER 5th 2009!

The only venue I've confimed is the church....hahaha
And even that one needs some convincing to my mom coz she wanted me to have it our family church but we're working on it...
(Grounds of budget not working on her. So trying to go for the "don't want your daughter to slip, embarrass herself and break her neck/leg" angle...coz the walk in is on a slight slope and smooth flooring + nervous bride + not thinking = not very smart) Already mentioned to her that the aisle way is not very wide and since we're having a rather big sized guy giving me away, I think I've got a pretty good argument there.

Wedding lunch venue is not confirmed but can more or less guess where =P

Bridal shop, obviously the amazing, wonderful and creative VAUGHN TAN!!!!! www.vaughnt.com
If you loved my ROM gown, wait till you all see my wedding n evening gown...Not that he's worked on it yet but I can't wait!!

Corsages for groomsmen, bridesmaids, helpers :DIY
Vases/gifts for bridesmaids: DIY
Ang bao box: DIY (obviously =P)
Wedding invites: DIY (yes u heard me...my own wedding invitation cards....Coz no sense having 2 diff invites since 99% of our guests are invited to our church wedding also so might as well just put all the details on one card and send it all out)
Wedding favours: DIY (yes yes yes I know.....my hubby is actually willingly helping me on this one *grin)
Mass booklet: DIY (Sample already done, ready for priest to vett =P)
Unity candles: DIY (I am NOT prepared to spend $88 for 3 candles just for the occasion)

The thing is, it's not that we dun have the budget to pay for people to do for us...we just thought it would be better and more intimate for us and our friends...
and we enjoy it =)

It's been really fun for me coming up with designs, playing with colours, doing up the scrapbook for our getaway to Phuket and our ROM...(can't wait to work on my church wedding and customary wedding photos!)....
Guess there's also a creative streak in me =)

But the best part?
Designing ang bao boxes for my friends and even church invites for them.
You can see the ang bao box designs on thingsneededforawedding.blogspot.com
Will be exploring a proper online shop soon with my hubby but still in the "deciding" stages....

In a way, it's like designing anything for someone...
You need to get to know them...their tastes, personalities...

Like for one friend, I made a 2 layer box coz she had a lot of guests but didn't want to have just one HUGE box so I came up with that style and she wanted to have the Forever Friends wedding bears but it took me a while to find and boooyyyy were they ex when I did find them. So I bought her a nice alternative and voila! Apparently her friends who saw it all said that it was really nice so that made me happy.

For another friend, I made 2 boxes for her, very simple and classic and in pink *grin
Given that pink is her favourite colour...I used 2 diff types of flowers to help distinguish either one for church and one for the wedding, or one for the groom's side and one for the bride's side.
Didn't think about using other colours coz she liked both flowers and so i just made 2 of the same.

For a "sis" of mine, I designed a vintage/classic victorian style for her and though I've not done it up, and merely told her about it over sms, she said that it sounded damn nice and something that she and her partner would like.

I can see the joy that Vaughn derives from designing something that really suits and depicts the personality of his customers perfectly....esp when you can see that they really like what you do.

Having said that, anyone need someone to make ang bao boxes or wedding invites lemme know! =P

Yes Juan I promise I will make for u too *grins

Special shout out!

Just found out that a friend of mine has been reading my blog all this while and I never knew!!

Ok stupid me....coz *duh* it's the WORLD WIDE WEB! ANYONE can read
But still...let's face it, when we find out that so and so read something off our blog, we all are still "stunned" somewhat right??
*Franctically seeking a nod in the masses of intelligent life

Heng I haven't been saying anything mean/bad about this friend
*does a mental check of past entries...
At least I dun think I have....considering I have no reason to....I think...
*bites nails

*wails
The stress I take upon myself for my friends and their amusement/entertainment...

So anyway, BIG BIG HELLO to my wunnerful friend, ZACH!
Be good yeah?

And remember, stay away from credit cards *grins
